Makes sawing through various foods easier when my arthritic thumb is flaring up. That said, the gauge of the teeth is a bit off for cutting bread. Kind of tears up freshly baked bread, but still worth trying if you have hand or write issues.Ordered this as an 8 inch bread knife for veggies etc. Works very well for the uses I had in mind. Works great on right hand (yes, I'm right-handed) which has been (slowly over the years) proven to be painful and riddled with osteo-arthritis (now bone on bone in a particular joint). So this knife has gotten me back in the kitchen and preparing most of our dinners! Great knife for those with RA, or advanced OA!Once you've used a knife with this sort of handle, you'll want one. For many purposes -- not just cutting bread -- it is a much more ergonomic way to hold a knife. The knife itself is of good quality, although not as heavily-made as I might have liked. It is very sharp. My teenage son cut himself with it immediately, so watch for that. This knife has become my wife's favorite knife, as she has RA other knives are painful to use. But, it's not serrated as advertised. The product is holding an edge well and I would recommend it to anyone, not just those with arthritis . The only reason for dropping a star is for the lack of serrations.Works great. I had hand surgery in January (trapeziectomy surgery) . PT gave me a catalog with helpful tools. It had the chef's knife featured, which I bought along with a smaller serrated knife. I love cooking and these knives allow me to dice & slice to my heart's desire. My husband got me the bread knife for my b'day. Love it!This type of knife has been a huge help to my wife whom has RA. This serrated version is great for bread and other things like tomatoes. The angle tales a little getting used to, but is worth the change. This knife really works beatifully...my hand PT suggested iti. I have a really expensive bread knife, but I prefer this...really makes the job easy.I used only one time, I put away.
