Well UPS delivered it and the Box clearly was marked with arrows but they didn't deliver it with those arrows being up. I'm over 60 and I'm disabled the box is heavy but I carried it halfway in and then I just set it down on the ground and then I put it on my wheelchair and I pushed it in because though I'm disabled I still can walk just not long ways. So I pushed it up my ramp got in the house rested a while and then opened the Amazon box. Where in I found another box from the maker where that box was on its side even though it was clearly marked up so it was never in the upright position as the manufacturer needs because Amazon just disregarded that fact and so did UPS will UPS didn't know because they only paid attention to what Amazon said but yet they didn't even pay attention to the upmarks when they delivered it to me. So I got it and I read the instructions and it said to let it sit for an hour or more before you use it to let the coolant settle due to shipment and everything which I did. And though I could smell coolant I I washed it and everything and I was surprised. The ice cubes don't taste like coolant and the first batch even if you said it at large the first batch is going to be small. But all the other batches are really nice and you know they're small cubes sure but they last a long time and they're really cold. So I'm making some to put in my refrigerator overnight to keep the spoiling food colder because my regular refrigerator is failing me and so it doesn't even hold ice I mean it'll make ice but during the day it kind of defrosts a little bit and when I say make eyes I mean I put water into ice trays and I put it in the refrigerator I don't have a working ice maker because my house is not set up for a nice maker even though the refrigerator has one in it. Anyways I like this unit. I like how you're able to drain it without having to pick it up and tip it over. And so far I mean it's made a lot of ice for me in the past couple of hours I live alone so I don't need a lot of ice so it's like if I want to have a vodka or whatever it's called a greyhound I want to have vodka with grapefruit juice you know once in awhile or once or four times a day I can LOL it makes enough ice so that I can have cold ice on the hottest days of summer. it is a little bit noisy when it dumps the ice but my goodness what ice maker isn't. I just wasn't expecting the noise because I was forgetting.We have had this machine for over a year now. Our refrigerator is older and the filters - even in modern refrigerators - do not have sufficient filtering of chemicals (like Chromium 6 and lead for example) etc. for our desired water quality. We use a drinking water filtering system that gets EVERYTHING out including cancer causing chemicals like Chromium 6 and lead found in low levels in many municipal drinking water supplies.So, we bought this unit to make ice since I will not use the lame filtering system that is built into our refrigerator. Water filtered by something like a Britta filter makes water taste better (because it gets out things like chlorine, etc) but does not address nasty and dangerous chemicals that are harder to filter out.We make huge batches of ice about every 3 weeks. I leave it running all day and empty the basket into a one gallon zip lock bag, let it harden in the freezer, break it up by slapping the bag once or twice on the counter (because the cubes do tend to freeze to each other) and then put the entirety of the now individual ice cubes into our freezer hopper for use. I repeat this until the freezer hopper is full and I usually fill the bag one more time to give us a little refill back up once the hopper has made room.I have run this thing like this regularly for over a year and it is still working well. The ice is great - better than any you can buy because of our kick ass water filtering system and the ice is safe and free from dangerous chemicals, and delicious (as far as ice and water goes).I have definitely saved money from buying the higher quality "drink ice" and even the lower priced ice you buy for your ice chests. I love this machine. I only use our filtered water. After I am finished making ice, I run the cleaning cycle, I empty it and dry it with some clean cotton rags, then I wipe it down with alcohol based wipes in an attempt to keep bacteria, etc. from forming before my next usage.I do not have bad thing to say about this item at all. It is a heaven safe when it was so hot here in SF. I am a Fog Brats so I hate hot weather to the point that I never travels ever! I don't see the point to go and make myself suffer for something that I can avoid. Cold weather is my cup of tea so when it was so freakin hot here. I was like NOPE! I am not going through this bullshit without an ice machine. It is easy to use and quiet. Two things that I am fond of in my older life. I don't have kid and I like my life peaceful with my Peter Pan Complex husband and our dogs. So this is useful for my self and my family. It make ice quick enough that I have no problem filling up my glass twice to three times and sharing that with my dogs too. But definitely not for a big household.I have been hauling ice bags home from the grocer for ages & decided to buy this product to see if it might replace ice bag purchase. This little machine is easy to use & after a brief warm up to get the coils cold for ice production it provided nice (I use the large version) cubes at a moderate pace. The included scoop works well to fill quart size bags for the freezer to be used as needed!It takes a few hours of use to supply the quantity I need (for my daily use) before I turn the machine off until ‘next time’! There is a water Drain on the bottom but I mostly use up the amount I pour in at each session. The drain plug fits tight & a tad hard for me to remove. I use my filtered Reverse osmosis water for making ice! Ice is perfect; taste is better than store bought ice. The convenience, style, ease of use, adequate production is perfect for me, a single person who uses ice daily but for a family I would recommend a larger machine! This fits perfectly on my counter top, blends in well w/my other black appliances. I love this handy machine & you might also! Easy to use & care for with a relatively small foot print of space needed. Noise level is very minimal, would be great for a small cocktail party if started early enough to get enough cubes made ahead of time!
