I think you need to be prepared. This is a book of deep feels, which can shock a lot of people because one of the co-authors is a man whose biggest song is about being fancy and getting a bourbon street steak and an Oreo shake at Applebees. But that’s one of the reasons why this book works so well.Yes, this is a book about God’s redeeming grace, how complex, seamless, delicately indestructible, and perfect God’s plan is for us, but its written like Walker Hayes song lyrics. It’s clever, real, and so relatable. We all want that connection to people. We all want the friend who we would feel comfortable to give or receive a car to. We all want to live next to our best friend next door. But their friendship is so much more. This book gives a healthy dose of God without being preachy. Craig Cooper gives wonderful insights and sheds new “aha!” moments to well known Bible versus. It allows you to feel without being judged. It doesn’t point out your failures or someone is better about out God-ing you. The book is about a journey, friendship, and redemption. It was a lot deeper and personal than I thought.Do yourself a favor and read this in as safe environment for tears. Have a box of Kleenex next to you. Enjoy the ride.
