I love bread. I love it. Me and Oprah. But, while this isn’t the freshest option, it’s fantastic. The shelf life is amazing and came in handy during the pandemic, the three packs provide some alternate flavors to keep you from getting bored, and it’s got a ton of fiber. Look, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but it might be. Test it. With cheese and tomatoes. With some cottage cheese or your fave spread. You’ll like it.I use this for high fiber diet. Toasts well. A bit too crumbly for sandwiches.Slices are long ways and like .7 cm thick. Tastes a lot better toasted on high.I love this wonderful bread. Warmed in the toaster and then an open sandwich. Flavor superb. I can't eat any grains without getting digestive problems except for this wonderful pumpernickel. I have been buying it for months but the last shipment contained only 4 loaves instead of 6. Of course I got a refund from Amazon but now I can't purchase again because, based on past experience, the likelihood of only 4 loaves arriving is pretty high and it's not worth the bother.I was eating this bread toasted with butter and Marmite for lunch along with sticks of beef and cheesePretty fillingI break it in half and toast it like that as it’s too long as is for my toasterOnce I had two slices and that was entirely too fillingI love the true pumpernickel flavor of bread, and grew up eating these. So glad to find them on Amazon as my local store is usually sold out. Great to know I have another locaiton to purchase these. You get 3, individually-wrapped loafs, each a slightly different flavor. Personally, I like them as is whereas other folks like to toast these breads. They are designed to be for more savory meals, lox, capers, heavy meats, etc., so don't expect a light, fluffy bread like wonder bread. These are lovely, dark, dense, and heavy breads!I've become wheat sensitive, but I miss hearty whole wheat bread, and also rye, which usually contains some wheat. This whole grain rye was a great find. Nutty, chewy and tangy. And I can eat it without experiencing the problems I have with wheat.I have reordered this bread many times, but this time it is crumbling, almost falling apart. Please, tell the bakery to put more glue in it again :-)
