Because it is a smooth tube, there is no splitting of the yarn or fuzziness if you have to rip out some stitches. The resulting knitted fabric is not warm like wool so it's perfect for Texas weather. It's weighty when worked up and will be a nice, heavy top layer in colder months.I got the Pacific Variegated and it has faded blue gray, light aqua and pea green colors that knit into a pleasing camo pattern in cool, beachy colors. I purchased this yarn in the aqua solid to create a contrasting border and it matches perfectly. Also, I wasn't able to find enough in one dye lot so I got as many different dye lots as possible and the result is fine - probably because this is a variegated yarn.So far, I have only found one cut and tie in 3 skeins so the I'm pleased with the quality.
