I'm a chef and this is my go-to knife for slicing bread and tomatoes. You can get them as paper thin as you like with this knife. Only downside is if you slip, you're gonna hurt yourself bad ? I was rinsing it off the other day and lost my grip on the extremely thin handle and gravity pulled it straight across my finger and sliced me good. Definitely worth the money thoughI've been gradually replacing all of my consumer-grade kitchen knives with GOOD knives. I honestly wasn't sure how much of a difference there could possibly be with a bread knife, but believe what the reviews say. Slicing a loaf of fresh-baked bread doesn't crush or tear the bread or leave a pile of crumbs like my old knife. It's beautiful and effortless to use, but be careful cutting hamburger buns! This thing will slice your palm before you know it! Ask me how I know!A few months ago my wife and I bought a 3-knife set of Wusthof classic knifes and were really impressed by their performance. When we needed a new bread knife we decide to fork down the extra money and get a matching knife for our set. And we were blown away.First, the Wusthof quality and feel of this knife is great. It just feels right in your hand. I can't quire explain it in words, but I would say that it just 'feels right'.Additionally, the knifes we had before were cheap off-brand knives. For this knife, you barely have to slide it across the bread and it just cuts through. No real effort needed. Even for breads that are a little more elastic, it just goes through (like a knife through butter :P).The one negative I would give it is that it does not come with a sleeve for the knife, and that there is not really a matching sleeve for it. I bought this: Super sharp. Good for someone with a small hand. The Tojiro is better, because the handle is larger and easier to grip. I like the 10 inch, instead of the 8 inch.I'm a brand loyal like you wouldn't believe and for the longest time, I couldn't decide if I preferred Henckels or Wusthof knives more. This last addition to my knife set has finally tipped my preference in favour towards Wusthof knives (sorry Henckels!) My previous serrated knife was a 5" utility knife which was part of the Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pro S 7-Piece Knife Set, and it never felt that comfortable and was too short. With this 8" knife, cutting feels really effortless and I had no problem cutting larger loaves. Both crusty and soft breads cut cleanly and didn't squish the bread. It didn't squish tomatoes either. I like that the handle feels substantial, and it was comfortable to hold.I chose this knife over the 9" knife version since the 9" costs quite a bit more, and I can't see how an inch can added that much difference in value.Great knife for the money. I paid around $42 for mine shipped. I would recommend you look at other brands if your a real chef and want professional quality. After 3 years:I like that they are great in the hand and easy to hold. I have several of the Wusthof knives and the bread knife has held up the best to everyday use. Probably because we don't eat bread and barely use it!This is our favorite Wusthof classic knife. We own a whole set of classics and this one is the only one that put a smile on my girlfriends face when she used it to cut a baguette for the first time. Cut melons with it too. Great slight curve to the blade that makes it feel oh so nice while using. I really debated spending the money on a knife to just cut bread but it will not crush the loaf and makes for the most minimalistic movements. It'll make a loaf into slices for grilling or toasting in less than 10 seconds.Be careful, this is one sneaky sharp knife. This is the only knife the two of us have cut ourselves on.GiftLa calidad del producto es incuestionable.
