I was a little hesitant at first since you can't remove plates for washing, but decided to give it a try. My grandson kept asking for a waffle maker and decided to go with a simple one since I've never used one before. I must say pancake batter does go along way with a waffle maker. I love it, he loves it. When I make my batter (put of box nothing fancy) I do add a little vanilla for extra flavor. I also add a teeny spray of spam at the center to both sides of waffle maker, not necessary, but I do. I've never had a spill over since I start at the center and gradually spread carefully. I always time it to exactly 3minutes because that's what it says. I've had perfect waffles everytime. I do add some confection sugar and maple syrup and all comes out perfect and super tasty. Next time I'll maybe cut a few blueberries in the batter. I know this is only a beginners waffle maker, but if you're careful you can do allot with it. As far as cleaning it, the waffle comes up in one piece, no batter left behind of course unless you add too much and it spills over, but that's never happened to me. So afterwards I wipe the plates with a napkin and warm water and that's it. I love it.Coming from a fancy waffle maker, I can tell you I like this waffle maker. It makes good waffles, they come right out and don't stick. It isn't fancy, has no beeps that tell you when it's ready for the batter, or when the waffle is ready, but its a good, inexpensive, no frills waffle maker that does what it's supposed to ...which is make waffles! It does have a light that tells you when it's hot enough though.the directions were slightly confusing in terms of what the green light means. I would think that it means the waffle maker is ready for batter...But it actually means it's heating up. When the green light goes OFF, it's ready for batter. Im probably the ONLY one confused by this.I didn’t expect much from this product since I’ve never had a waffle iron before. I always had this misconception that only the ones that you close and flip over are the ones that work. But this is just as good. Easy to store, does not take up a lot of room. Waffles came out nice & fluffy! The only thing is that there’s not really any button that tells you when they are ready. The light that the iron has is more for letting you know when it’s hot enough to start putting the batter in. You just have to keep an eye on them. 10/10 great buy.I bought this for myself, because I like waffles. The first time I used it, it made the waffles so great. If you're going to buy this make sure you read the directions, because it said to not use a spray on oil. It will make the waffles a bit hard to take them out. just a little bit compared to using melted butter. overall this waffle maker is a time saver for people on the go. Must sure to use 2/3 cups and not anything bigger or else you'll have a big mess to clean up laterI like this Waffle Maker. Does what it's supposed to. I didn't need anything really expensive for my household of 4 and a guest. Waffles didn't stick or burn or anything. I'd probably give this a 4.5 if I could and make the half star difference because the handle can collect some condensation from the steam. If the handle were open like a U vs solid, the steam would pass through it vs collect under it. Anyway, the Seller delivered on time and in great condition. I would absolutely buy again and recommend.makes tasty waffles & It'll definitely save you money over ordering them at a diner or restaurant, but it's a pain to clean. I suggest using an old vibrating toothbrush- honestly helps clean anything, esp in hard to reach places. The iron is also compact, which is nice, wind up the cord, stand it upright and it fits almost anywhere.I wanted a basic electric waffle maker, and I'm delighted with the B&D WMB505. There are no bells and whistles, no lights that tell you when the waffle is ready, etc. You plug it in, wait until a light goes out telling you that it's hot enough, pour in the batter, and wait a few minutes until there's little or no steam and you've got a perfect waffle. I spray the iron with a vegetable oil before adding batter as a precaution. Cleaning is barely necessary. For batters, I've used both Krusteaz and Bisquick (substituting milk for water), and they're both good.I impulse bought this and now I can’t stop making waffles (and hash brows and paninis cause this thing is versatile). I am addicted. I can’t stop making waffles. This machine is a blessing from the waffle gods. It’s a great quality for the price. I don’t know how I survived without this waffle maker. Years of being nicknamed the “pancake princess” and yet, here I am, now preaching the glory of waffles. I have found my calling in life... and it’s waffles.I bought this to replace/compliment my "Dash Mini". Making Chaffles on the small mini took forever (since recipe makes more than one) I 'whipped' up a batch and made 4 at once. Great time saver and very easy to use. Non Stick plates make this a breeze to clean (just do not overfill - 2/3 C is perfect)Really good quality, non-stick, easy to follow directions, great waffles each time. Only criticism is I wish it beeped when the waffle was ready rather than just the little light going out- not that I would recommend leaving it unattended, but you literally have to stare at it to watch the light go off, if you turn your back even just for a moment in the same room and don't see the light go out, you could overcook/ burn your waffle. All in all a good product though, would recommend.I have 4 kids so when it's waffle morning it took forever with my Protoc silex belgian waffle maker to make waffle in a good time. I needed a 2nd maker. It does what it is supoosed to do but it is so cheap. Had my P.S. for almost 20 years, this one if it lasts for 2 years will be a miracle. It sucks that small appliances are so cheaply made these days. But it works and my waffle mornings are much easier now. Solid and durable iron, easy to clean; we just scrub it off in the sink, even though we often got the internals wet, it still worked fine for years until finally giving out. No flipping or fuss, let it preheat, pour and wait for the light.
