Convenient size for baking bread. There is a reserve of space for dough fermentation. When fermenting the dough, it is possible to put it in several rows. This makes a higher loafSturdy, well-made and traditional. Good size for smaller loaves (333grams flour) which is what I was looking for. This 7” bread proofing basket is smaller in diameter and taller than my 9” basket but I can still use it for an average size sourdough bread. The resulting bread is smaller in diameter but taller in height. It makes a beautiful sourdough boule.I ordered these in 3 different sizes, specifically because the seller advertised these as 4” or taller. None of them are. The tallest one is maybe 3.5 inches tall. They seem to be well made and the liners are a nice quality, but what I wanted were deep bannetons. Seller please fix your descriptions. This was a really nice proofing basket. The size was perfect. I'm givingbit a three becsuse the craftmanship was barely good enough, at least this was the case with the one I recived. Loved the shape and how it was deep instead of flared out angled like all rhe others to allow the dough to keep a rounded yet taller shaped while rising. Unfortunately I had to send it back because it didn't have the linen cover and the rattan was splitting and the basket had a lot of bigger gaps between the levels of rattan that I couldn't use it without a linen cover. I would have kept it with these slight imperfections had I gotten the one with the linen cover. I do plan on reordering this but with the linen cover insert.Warning, the 7" x 4" 0.5 lb is not 4" tall. Mine measured in at only 3.25".I was disappointed.Okay, bread comes out easily, finished product very pretty. I thought the bowl would be sturdier than it is. We will see how long it last.Thank youcarolintallahassee
