I look cooking - these are nice white simple design . Versatile in that you can dress it up with crystal and formal dinner or just have a nice causal service. I have had other dishes that chip easily these hold up well!!!Matched our existing plates. Great quality.Evidently these beautiful dishes are now out of stock! How sad since I had been looking for ones such as these for quite a while! Even though the description says "soup bowls" I use them mostly for pasta, and yes, they are more than adequate for a reasonable sized serving of spaghetti, ravioli, etc. They are also nice for soups. They are of sturdy weight, and look very classy either on an informal or dressed up table. Even though one of the four plates arrived cracked, I am still giving these five stars because of the marvelous customer service. They insisted on giving me a full refund for the set (I got to keep three plates free!) and were incredibly prompt. I would certainly have paid for the three dishes but they were so gracious. The company should consider restocking this excellent product.Nice, large, sturdy size soup or pasta bowls. I bought to add to bowls i already had and while these quite different in shape and size with a narrower rim, I am happy with these. I woukd buy again if need.I use these them all the time for pastas, soups, stews, and other foods. They are deep enough to hold a good serving but not too deep, so they are very versatile especially for one dish meals. They are not too broad, so they fit well on a tray or on a table setting. They are exactly the size I needed for almost daily use. I highly recommend them.I wanted 20 large white plates with a rim for an upcoming party that will be served Buffet style. I bought 4 of these plates from Warehouse Deals to check them out before ordering all 20. Two of the plates arrived broken and Amazon very efficiently refunded my money. The plates are lovely, very white, a great size and a nice wide rim, however they are so heavy that they are not at all suitable for a buffet. I tried to weigh the plate on a 16 oz. food scale but it was way too heavy. These plates are heavier than Fiestaware plates and it feels as if 1 of these plates weighs the same as 2 of my every day Spode dishes.Because these plates are so thick and because they have a rim on the bottom a stack of them would be higher than most other plates. I also discovered prices on the internet as low as Two eighty-seven per plate. The plates are FRENCH in name only, they are made in CHINA.Nice, heavy soup bowls that match my white plates and cups from a different maker. They make a very nice presentation with soup, and microwave very well. But, our main course is usually a big salad and these bowls are perfect salad-as-main-course dishes. They're also perfect for warming up slightly messy leftovers, like lasagna, in the microwave. A plate lets liquids flow all over, the bowl keeps liquids contained and helps keep whatever you're warming up properly moist. These are stout bowls - not some delicate china you have to worry about breaking if you look at sideways. These are very similar to the bowls used at most of the middle to high-end restaurants nearby. That is, they look great, handle great, and can easily withstand commercial dishwashers. The reason I'm giving these only 2 stars is I ordered 3 sets at different times from the same Amazon page. The first set or dinner plates was 11 inches as described. The other 2 sets I ordered a couple of weeks later were only 10.75 inches and was marked Made in Indonesia which was a completely different marking than the first set. Also the sticker stated that the dishes were 10.75 inches. I had to send the second and third set back and have given up trying to get a matching replacement set. I love the first set but am not pleased with the inconsistency of the diameter. The picture on the left is the first set of plates I received which you can see are made in China and they do measure 11 inches. The picture on the right is the bottom of the last 2 sets of plates I received. They are clearly marked 10.75 in and they are made in Indonesia. The are not the same plates. They even look different which is a bit hard to capture in a photo so I did not attempt to post one.
