I've used this item to bake bread, to steam fish and vegetables. It truly is multipurpose. The closures on top are secure. The item doesn't get hot, as there are no inner metal pieces that heat up. Very safe, extremely easy to clean. The loaf shape can't be changed due to the closure. It is nice for a thicker crusted bread, rather than a white sandwich loaf.
